JIRAGON Synopsis (UPDATED)

Sun Jun 7, 2009, 4:24 AM
Here's the synopsis. Based on a story by Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot:

Off the Arctic circle in the year 2000, a salvage ship is collecting nuclear reactor cores dumped there during the Cold War. Suddenly, a chain reaction occurs and a massive explosion engulfs the ship. On the shore, the snow turns blue with fire and the earth and ice split apart, red black blood flowing form the crevice.

Scientists Kieth and Jill Llewellyn is flown to the scene, leaving their 4 year old daughter Tina behind. Once they arrive, the sea is red with the blood" which is later discovered to be a type of amniotic fluid, like inside of a womb. Jill is taken to the research station set up outside, and Kieth is brought inside of the fluid filled crevice. Inside, we find an odd cave like formation, Kieth climbs inside, examining the stalactites. He is then told that they are teeth and he realizes he is inside of a giant mouth, he quickly scurries out. He is then told that what they have found ere is some kind of giant dinosaur embedded in the ice. He then climbs on top of the beasts head, noting it's allosaur like structure, and the strange cords connected to it's side. The beast is then awakened by a tremor caused by the earlier explosion, and it releases a massive shock wave, vaporizing the fluid around it and killing everyone inside before heading out of the cave

Off in the distance, the monster sees lights shining from behind a glacier. Investigating, he finds a village, which he destroys while searching for food. The beast then slips into the ocean, leaving only two survivors, Junji, a fisherman, and Oto, his son. Junji then names the monster "Jiragon", after a monster in stories his Grandfather used to tell him.

12 years later, both Oto and Junji are at a mental hospital in Whashington state. American folklorist/scientist Aaron Vaught breaks into the facility and asks them both questions. Junji then shows him pictures he has drawn of Jiragon, his son ripping some up. Junji and Oto both fight over their opinions about the monster, Junji saying that it's a force of nature and Oto calling it an evil demon. Vaught is then caught trespassing by MP's, and is carried off, along with Junji and Oto. At the same time, a bio metallic meteor crashes into a Utah lake, causes it to rain fish and frogs on the nearby town of Prayingshot. In the lake, the meteor enters a cave full of bats, it captures them using metallic snares and mutates them into monsters before sending them out to collect more animals.

In Massachusetts, the government has set up the "St. George Project", a secret organization supplied with super weapons designed to find and destroy Jiragon. Aaron Vaught is taken to the head quarters and asked to join, which doesn't thrill Jill Llewellyn, who is now the project's director. It is then learned that Jiragon was last seen in 2003 when he destroyed an oil tanker. We then meet Tina, who is now 16. She has added to Jill's problems by trying to steal a car. During the middle of their argument, it is announced that the womb chamber is emitting a strange light.

The team heads for the Arctic circle. While in the womb, Junji is struck in the neck by some kind of parasite. Vaught, seeing the organic structures around him, believes and states that the monster and this womb must be the product of some kind of ancient bio tech civilization and that this would have been the time for Jiragon to awaken if he wasn't released early. They are then told that Jiragon has appeared again, and is heading towards San Fransisco. On the way there, Junji is griped by a strange infection and is taken to a hospital.

The Navy and the St. George Project's all terrain battle ship, the Charlemagne, are deployed in San Fransisco bay to destroy the monster. Jiragon destroys the battle ships rather easily, his battle with the Charlemagne carries over to San Fransisco. Jiragon badly damages the ship by firing a burning enzyme from his mouth, forcing it to land. It is then concluded that Jiragon must be powered by cellular energy and that the fluid he was found in was some kind of tranquilizer. Thousands of gallons of the fluid are then dumped into San Fransisco bay, and Jiragon is lead into the substance by attacking helicopters. Weakened, he climbs onto the Golden Gate Bridge before several missiles filled with the fluid are shot into his sides and mouth, knocking him unconscious. He is then air lifted by the Charlemagne to the St. George Project's head quarters. There, he is stored in a giant tank of water inside a huge hangar, although it isn't big enough to hold his tail...

In Utah, the mutant bats continue to collect animals and even destroy a church, killing everyone inside. Back at their cave, the meteor has taken a hunched, animal like shape with huge wings.

At the hospital, Junji reveals that he has had dreams about Jiragon. He says that a "race of people before people" (Kyrill) created him in ancient times using the "blood and swords of the ancients" (dinosaur genes and organic weaponry) to defend the Earth from a coming apocalyptic alien invasion by the Cimberans, a race of aliens that uses genetic probes to conquer other planets. He then dies, much to Oto's anguish

Hearing this, Vaught decides that Jiragon must have some kind of purpose, something both Jill and Oto disagree with. Vaught then decides that he must have been heading towards Utah, hearing about the odd events there. He heads to Utah and ends up in Prayingshot. Once there, he and local store keeper Nelson Fleer head out to the lake where the meteor crashed. They dive down into the lake and discover the monstrous shape, which awakens, Vaught naming it "the Gryphon" after the mythical monster. The Gryphon flies out of the water and destroys the nearby town of Prayingshot.

Back at the headquarters, Jiragon has awakened despite the amniotic fluid being given to him. He escapes and heads into the Atlantic, but not before destroying the entire base. Tina then learns of her mother's hatred for the monster and argues, saying that the monster is merely a force of nature. Not wanting to listen, Jill sends her to Manhattan to stay with an aunt.

The Gryphon lands at the Mississippi river and destroys a tourist plane before flying off to Clarksburg, VA, battling the Charlemagne and destroying it.

At the destroyed headquarters, it is leaned that the two monsters are headed right for each other and that they will meet in New York City. Seeing that Tina is in danger, Jill heads for New York. Trapped in the Midtown tunnel, she escapes when Jiragon steps on it.

Jiragon and Ziz meet, both slamming into each other. Jiragon then wraps his tail around an under construction building and bites down on the Gryphon's leg. The wounds heal quickly and the Gryphon blasts Jiragon with energy bolts before chasing him down the Avenue. They then meet again at the Twin towers, battling and destroying the North towers base, burying them both in rubble. Vaught then decides that Jiragon can only defeat the Gryphon if a collar filled with amniotic fluid is removed from his neck.

The Gryphon is distracted by the army while a gunship carries Vaught and Fleer to remove the collar from Jiragon. the collar is removed and Jiragon hits the Gryphon with a blast of burning enzymes, sending it flying off towards the East river. Both meet again at the Brooklyn Bridge, both monsters getting tied up in the cables, the Gryphon electrocutes Jiragon and flies off, Jiragon following it to Coney Island.

Jiragon scans the sky and sees the Gryphon barreling towards it. At the last minute, Jiragon bends over and slashes the Gryphon with his spines and rips off it's head, stomping it into the ground and setting the body a flame.

Jiragon, victorious roars and heads out to the ocean. The air force moves in to kill the injured monster, but Jill, who now understands the monster, calls them off. Jiragon then heads into the Atlantic.

What do you guys think?

UPDATE: I changed it to include the Gryphon instead of Ziz. Ziz, as well as the Leviathan and Behemoth will now be "God Probes", super powered probe monsters.

Sounds like a well adjusted script. As with the original, I'd love to see this given movie form in some fashion.

It's not that I don't like society, It's that I've been forced to live out side of it due to the over whelming force of: conservatives, conformists, liberals, republicans, democrats, enviromentalists, terrorists, right wingers, religous zealots, media...

Well, you might be able to expect some art :)

 I love it! It is very good, and well thought through. I can see where it has the Godzilla feel, but still is it's own thing.

Thank you! Well, it was based on an unused American Godzilla script, so it naturally feels that way. Still, it IS it's own thing due to all of these new elements.
